DESCRIPTION:The Country Club of Fairfax’s fireworks display will begin around 9:00 pm on Saturday\, July 1. CCV neighbors often watch from their own homes (if skyline is unobstructed by trees) and others walk up to Ox Road and set up chairs along the sidewalk. For those who drive up\, please do not park on Ox Road but instead on a side road (Portsmouth\, Marlborough\, Ames). Some viewers watch from University Mall and the Salvation Army. FYI: CCV’s close proximity to the fireworks can be overwhelming for people of all ages and pets\, so plan accordingly for loud bangs that last about 30+ minutes! \nClick here for more local events.

DESCRIPTION:INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE \nJuly 4th\, 2023\n10am – Noon\nDowntown Fairfax\nRain or Shine \nThe City of Fairfax’s Independence Day Parade and Fireworks began in 1967. Organized by the Delta Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority\, the parade has developed into the largest in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The parade has all the requisite ingredients for the Fourth of July: marching bands\, floats\, Shriners’ little cars and big motorcycles\, old fire engines\, clowns\, and the scorching sun. The parade has featured flyovers by the Flying Circus Aerodrome — and\, in 1996\, a hot air balloon race. Historically\, the parade has been followed by an Old-Fashioned Fireman’s Day\, in which area fire companies compete in firefighter-related activities; however\, it has now turned into the “Future Fire Fighter’s Day”\, which provides children’s activities on fire safety and education. \nWe hope you’ll come out and celebrate with us! \nClick here for more local events.
