SUMMARY:2024 Scholarship Application Information
DESCRIPTION:This year CCVCA will award 1-year\, non-renewable scholarship(s) to graduating high school senior(s) whose family is a current 2024 member of the civic association. The Paul A. Maltagliati Memorial College Scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement\, participation in school and community activities\, a short essay\, and an interview. The Scholarship Application provides details about the process and required documentation. For more information or questions about the scholarship\, please contact Greg Rheault with “CCVCA Scholarship” in the subject line. \nAll CCVCA 2024 graduating seniors are eligible to apply\, regardless of high school attended or home schooled. The online Scholarship Application must be submitted no later than April 3\, 2024. During April 12-19\, each applicant will have an interview with the Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by April 19 and then announced at the CCVCA General Membership Meeting on April 25. \nThe dollar amount and the number of scholarships awarded varies depending on the funds available that year. Contributions are made by CCVCA members on the annual Membership Application and those attending events like the Ice Cream Social. DESCRIPTION:On April 27\, 2024\, the CCV Stream Cleanup will be held from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Celebrate Earth Day (April 22) by showing some love for our local stream\, Sideburn branch of Pohick Creek! Please join us in reducing the amount of trash in the Country Club View Park stream to prevent it from continuing downstream! Last year there were basketballs\, tennis balls\, tubing\, and even rusty chairs uncovered from the muck and brought out to be collected by the Park Authority. This is a great opportunity for students to earn service hours. \nTwo locations to meet: CCV Park by the tennis courts or the park entrance off of Grinnell Street. Dress appropriately for being in the woods and around the creek–wear gloves\, long pants\, and shoes that can get muddy. CCVCA will provide trash bags for volunteers and treats to enjoy after the cleanup. \nDate subject to change due to weather. \nRefreshments provided. This weekend is also the City Nature Challenge! Help the DC area make the most nature observations in this international contest! We can show you how to record your nature observations for the challenge.
