FCPS Notice for March 16, 2026 Due to Monday’s weather forecast for potential severe storms and possible tornadoes in the afternoon, all FCPS schools and offices will be closing three hours early Monday, March 16, 2026. This means all schools will end three hours earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal times. Should the forecast change and it becomes unsafe to release students early, we will hold them until a safe release is possible. We will provide families with updates if this is the case. The following changes will be implemented to the school day schedule: * Morning preschool and special education classes are dismissed at approximately 10 a.m. The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled: * Extracurricular activities. Families with students in School Age Child Care (SACC) and Beyond the Bell (BTB) centers will hear directly from those programs about plans for Monday. In accordance with Regulation 4810, employees designated as essential personnel should follow supervisor direction. Emergency administrative leave is authorized for all other personnel. You can find more information about how FCPS prepares for severe weather on the FCPS Weather Safety page. In addition, Fairfax County has a list of what families should consider when preparing for severe weather. Sincerely, |

Fairfax Water Winter Water Tips: Protect Your Pipes
Cold weather can lead to frozen pipes and costly damage. Here are a few simple steps to help prevent winter water problems:
- To keep pipes from freezing, allow a faucet to drip cold water slowly. At a minimum, the dripping faucet should be the one that is the greatest distance from your main water shut-off valve. Also, consider allowing a slow drip in areas that are least protected from the cold, such as basements, crawl spaces, attics, the garage
- Locate and mark your main shut-off valve so you can quickly turn off water in an emergency
- Turn off and drain outdoor faucets to prevent freezing
- Insulate pipes in unheated areas like basements, crawl spaces, and garages. Check for drafts and seal them
- Keep your thermostat at a safe temperature if you’re away from home
- Never use an open flame to thaw pipes—it’s dangerous. If pipes freeze, use safe methods or call for help
- If your water meter freezes, call 703.698.5800, TTY 711 during business hours or 703.698.5613, TTY 711 after hours
Taking these precautions can help you avoid winter water disasters. For more tips, visit https://www.fairfaxwater.org/winter-water-tips.

Use salt wisely – Protect sidewalks and our source water. In the winter, salt keeps us safe while we are on the move, but it also leads to higher levels of salt in the region’s drinking water supply, including the Potomac River and Occoquan Reservoir. Learn more and be winter salt smart!
Winter Salt and Your Drinking Water: When snow and ice arrive, salt helps keep roads safe—but it can also impact our water supply. Salt runoff enters streams and groundwater, raising chloride levels in drinking water sources. High chloride can harm aquatic life, corrode pipes, and affect water taste.
What can you do?
- Use salt sparingly and only where needed.
- Sweep up excess salt after ice melts.
- Consider alternatives like sand or calcium magnesium acetate for traction.
Small changes make a big difference in protecting our water quality. Learn more at https://www.fairfaxwater.org/winter-salt.
Message from Dominion Energy
Prepare for winter weather:
A mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow are expected this weekend (Saturday 1/24/26-Monday 1/26/26) and could linger for several days which may result in hazardous conditions and power outages in your community. In addition to road hazards and possible black ice, the combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain could result in falling limbs and trees and possible damage to power lines. If your power goes out, report it using the Dominion Energy app or online at DominionEnergy.com. You can also check for updates and view the outage map.
How to prepare:
*Keep your mobile phone and other devices fully charged.
*Download the Dominion Energy app for the easiest, most secure way to report and monitor the status of your outage or outages in your area.
*Create or restock emergency kits. The National Weather Service recommends creating a basic emergency kit before a storm hits, including water, flashlights, batteries, medicine and non-perishable foods to last several days.
Safety reminders:
*If you see downed power lines, please stay at least 30 feet away from them. Always assume they are energized and dangerous. Report them immediately by calling 1-866-366-4357.
*If your power goes out, keep freezers and refrigerators closed as long as possible to preserve the food inside.
*Avoid black ice on roads, driveways and walkways if possible. As winter precipitation can change quickly, crews are ready to respond and stay flexible, no matter the weather or its timing.

Dear Neighbor,
Country Club View (CCV) is a special place. It is a place where neighbors gather around a fire to welcome trick-or-treaters, contribute generously to scholarships to support high school seniors, donate to the Scouts and neighborhood food drives, and make new connections at the Ice Cream Social and other neighborhood events. Country Club View Civic Association’s (CCVCA) volunteer-run events continue to be a huge success, and we owe much gratitude to so many volunteers who graciously give their time. Whether it’s serving as a block captain or section leader, volunteering for a neighborhood event, contributing an article to the newsletter, participating in the Neighborhood Watch program, or sprucing up the CCV signs, all our volunteers make CCV a warm and inviting place to live.
We invite neighbors to renew their membership or join anew in 2026. And a special welcome to our new neighbors—we hope you will love CCV as much as we do!
