Veterans Day Federal Holiday*

This is one of the few unique holidays that is locked to a specific day: November 11. But it’s also a federal and bank holiday. This year the Federal Holiday is on Friday, November 10.

Veterans Day is a remembrance of all U.S. military veterans – past and present. It is celebrated every November 11, and has been a federal holiday since 1926.

* Because most Federal Employees work on a Monday to Friday schedule, when a holiday falls on a weekend the holiday is observed on the closest regular workday. The holiday is observed on Friday if the holiday falls on Saturday and Monday if the holiday falls on Sunday (5 U.S.C. 6103 (b)(2)).
