July 4 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 pm

Fairfax City 60th Annual 4th of July Celebration and Activities begins with a Parade @ 10 am–noon in Old Town Fairfax. Rain or shine, the 60th Annual Independence Day Parade travels through Old Town Fairfax along Chain Bridge Road, Main Street/Route 236, University Drive, and Armstrong Street. Enjoy colorful floats, giant helium balloons—including a special 250th anniversary balloon—marching bands, community groups, and food vendors along the route. Lawn Party @ 11 am–3 pm at Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center! Celebrate the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center’s birthday with treats, games, and family activities. The museum’s traveling exhibit, “Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Democracy,” will also be open through July 24. Evening Show and Fireworks @ 6:30 pm–10:30pm at Fairfax High School. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for an evening of entertainment. The American Legion Post 177 will present the colors at the evening show, and the Vienna–Falls Church Chorus will perform the national anthem, followed by a high‑energy, fan‑favorite performance by NovaKane. Food vendors will be on-site, and the night concludes with a spectacular fireworks display celebrating 250 years of American independence.
